June Day 10......

Day 10: Have a rant, go on get it off your chest
OR
Craft something that has the colour purple in it.

No double today so a rant it is.....
I've started this post a dozen times today, then re-typed and re-typed
again.......
My eldest son is almost 26, he's 6 foot+ tall, has hair longer than mine,
tattoos, piercings.....he is disabled and he uses a wheelchair. Nothing to do
with his appearance, he doesn't take drugs and drinks only occasionally....
..............it's because he's had 3 strokes, the 1st at the age of just 20.
I'm my son's carer.....and a lone parent.....not because I'm too lazy to work,
or wanted a bigger house or any of the other things that are mentioned
when talking about lone parents
but because my son needs a carer.........and because my man died.

So now I'm a single Mum of 6 gorgeous happy,  healthy (well, almost!)
children. My 2nd son works, my 3rd son is
at college & works 4 shifts a week voluntary in a charity shop....the
other 3 are all still at school. They're all kind, polite, honest, reliable kids,
all great students and I'm so, so proud of them all! I hate that people
assume things without knowing the facts, I hate that people judge on
appearances....that's one of the reasons I love blogging so much....
....nobody judges anybody. I think the other day my favourite quote should
have been.......
"Don't judge a book by it's cover"

See you tomorrow xx

  2. I totally agree with that quote hunni "you should never judge a book by it's cover" but a lot of peeps do and it's very sad, my eldest boy who 15 always get called a dirty mosha or blood sucker because he wears black, has long hair and listen to rock.
I always say to him that they are only jealous because he's not frightened of being his own person, as kids these days are always pressured to look and wear what the models or famous wear...not my boy, he's own friendly, polite and very clever boy and i am proud of him for that!!

Hunni if you ever need to rant or just chat don't hesitate to contact me, you have my email addy so just contact me any time...Keep your chin up girl and be proud of yourself too because you are doing a grand job bringing up your kiddies...
    hugs and xxx

  6. Wow Jo. I definitely agree with the quote you mentioned, appearances are in no means a way for other people to judge.

I admire you for your post online and the fact that you look after 6 kids by yourself - its amazing. I don't have any children myself, but I honestly think parents like yourself set a great example for others to look up to. Indeed, as the other ladies said - Hats off to you! xx

  7. Oh Jo...you are SO entitled to have a rant!!!
Ever since I first met you in blogland, I have been impressed with your dedication to your family and especially to your disabled son.

You are a great Mom...so proud of your kids and their accomplishments and so helpful to your eldest.

I say stuff the Judgy McJudgersons...they must have sad lives that they have so little to do that they can waste their time dreaming up the wrong scenarios of others lives.

You can hold your head up high knowing that you have done your best and contimue to do that on a daily basis. Your kids come first and that shows to us in blogland.

I am so looking forward to meeting you in person this summer and giving you a big hug for holding your family together when everything came crashing around you. Losing your partner is a devastating event for anyone let alone for a Mum of 6!
Cheers to you Jo for finding the strength to carry on after such a terrible time.

Hope tomorrow brings a better day!

    Crafty hugs

  8. Jo .... you are TOTALLY amazing! And I'd like to suggest another quote for you:

"Don't judge me until you've walked a mile in my shoes."

I'm not sure that many of us could do half as well what you've done in raising your wonderful family.

Big Hugs and love to you all.
