June Day 30......

Well here we are on day 30 of Karoove's fantastic blog
every day in June challenge......and I made it lol! I'd planned on ending
with the double but my little miss is still feeling poorly & with 7 of
us in the house when one gets ill the others usually follow.......and
follow they did!! So sadly no crafting time for me at all this weekend...I've
been on bucket duty instead!
I'm gonna miss this challenge, it's been lovely sitting down every
evening & blogging, I've "met" some lovely ladies & picked up some
fab hints & tips & seen the most gorgeous creations.
So what are the very last prompts:
June Day 30: What does crafting mean to you
OR
Craft something that has an age theme

So what does crafting me to me......well for the last few years I've
spent a lot more time at home.....and crafting has definitely
saved my sanity lol! It's my little escape, I've crafted through some oh, so
tough times and no doubt I will again. It's something I look forward to
every day....sometimes an hour at night, sometimes very early morning
while everyone else sleeps, sometimes, very rarely, a whole afternoon!
I usually craft to very loud rock music, the
dog usually curls up at my feet, the cats on my desk(?) and the kids
wander in & out. Although it's my hobby they all play a part &
all of them like to know what I'm up to! It's something I share
with my daughter, Rebecca......after 5 boys along she came and
thankfully she shares my 2 favourite things to do....craft & read!
It's something that's always there, doesn't have to cost a lot - usually
does but I like to re-purpose things too and that can save on the pennies!
But the best part of crafting has got to be the sharing....every
crafter I've ever met, whether IRL or in blogland, have been
so kind, generous & friendly and since I started blogging I've met
people all over the world....one I'm hoping to meet for real this Summer!
So that's it, day 30, a whole month has passed and so the very last
thing I'd like to say is a big thank you to Kairen for organising this
challenge and fingers crossed there'll be a next time!!

June Day 29......

Hi guys....hope you're well & having a great weekend!
No crafting for me today....Miss Rebecca woke up this morning
feeling poorly so I've been in charge of the bucket!!!!
So what's the prompts for today?
June Day 29:
If you could start your crafting life over, what would you do different
OR
Craft something that has a beach theme

I think if I could start my crafting life over then I'd make sure I finished
EVERY project I ever started lol. I have far too many unfinished
things......and not just papercraft either....knitting, cross stitch, sewing....but
I am trying to catch up......honest!!
I would definitely think twice about what I bought. I love having a huge
stash but realistically I'm never gonna use a lot of it.
Oh, and I definitely would have started blogging earlier....that's
turned into a huge part of my crafting life & I love it!
See you tomorrow :)
xx

Friday 28 June 2013

June Day 28......

I've been such a busy bee today I don't know where the day's
gone! School run, decorating, trip into town & sorting out a costume
for Miss Rebecca's end of term play.....all done now and time for a
sit down and a cuppa....and maybe a biscuit or two!
So what are the prompts for today?
June Day 28:  If you had 3 wishes what would they be
OR
Craft something to celebrate a new home

Well the 1st of the 3 wishes is easy......I'd wish my eldest son
fit & well, just as he was before his strokes!
The 2nd would be a part time job for my 3rd son....he's still at college
and works 4 voluntary shifts in a charity shop but is desperate
for a paid job. He's a great son, polite, well mannered, honest,
reliable...everything you could wish for....yet he still
can't find a part time job. His dream is to own a little
book shop.......one day!!
My 3rd wish would be for just a little bit more time although
I am so determined to be more organised....and I'm gonna start
with the craft room. The thought is if I organise my craft room
properly them it would be easier to organise my time in the craft
room therefore I'd be much more productive....but as my son
said "You know what thought did......followed a muck cart
cos he thought it was a wedding!"
No time for the double today......see you tomorrow!

Sweet Inspiration at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long

Hiya....Happy Friday...and don't these weeks fly past?
July next week, almost time for Summer break for the kids and it's raining
again! So much rain they've had to cancel Miss Rebecca's sports day!
Anyway, back to business lol! We have a new challenge over at
Christmas Stampin' All Year Long
and this week we want you to use this fabby photo as your inspiration.....
could be the colours, the pics, the little
Christmas pudding.....the choice is yours! We're sponsored by
Di's Digi Designs
and this time 2 lucky winners will receive a prize of $10 gift certificates to
spend instore! As usual, there's some fab inspiration from the team over on
the main blog....here's what I made:
I love this digi image, she's from La La Land.....hope I've done it justice....and
I took my inspiration from the colours. I love traditional colours for Christmas
and just that pop of lime green made all the difference! The papers, are from
my scrapbox, ribbon, pins, snowflakes & gems are from my stash,
the sentiment is stamped and I used Spectrum Noirs!
Thanks for calling......see you soon!

June Day 27......

June Day 27: 3 of your best ever projects
OR
Craft something that's all white

That's a tough one cos I think the projects I'd choose as my
best are things I'd made a gifts......so I haven't shown pics of them!
Sooooooo, I've chosen 3 of my fav cards/digi pages:

I made this card using my favourite (at the moment) digi stamp.
Love all D'Arcy'sDiaries images, so gorgeous to colour too!

a digi layout of Miss Rebecca posing for the camera!
This LO was for a DT piece....the theme was buttons & bows..
....any excuse for Bex to pose!

my 4th son, Christian, after his 1st concert. He loved it, he's the one
on the left.....and no,
I didn't let him dye his hair blue.....he was only 13!

I've only ever made one white card, but wasn't sure about it so
ended up colouring it in! Not sure if this counts, but here it is anyway!

See you tomorrow!

June Day 26......

Well, they say time flies when you're having fun and that's so
true.....can't believe we're almost at the end of our
monthly blog-a-thon.............and I'm having great fun!
Todays prompts are:
June Day 26: What do you wish you were good at
OR
Craft something that has a Spring theme

Oh, there's lots I wish I were good at....probably too much
to list lol! Perhaps the main thing is....I'd like to organise my time
better....I can waste a morning pottering about and not actually
get much done but then other days everything is done in
record time, the tea is in the slow cooker and then I can craft.....those
are by far the better days! Craft-wise, it's the same old thing...
.....stamping & colouring! Some days I'm real happy with my work, other
days it goes straight in the bin! Rightio, off to hop around some
of your blogs then off to bed. See you tomorrow!

June Day 25......

Hiya, hope you're all well! Been a right busy bee today, didn't
think I was gonna manage to blog today.....but here I am
...just a quick post before bed! So what's the prompts for today?

June Day 25: What advice would you give to a newbie crafter
OR
Craft something that has the colour orange on it

That's easy.....a one word answer....ENJOY!
Well, I mean I know you would enjoy crafting else you wouldn't
have started but I remember when I first started out I
wanted everything to be just right and sometimes spent so
long faffing about it sometimes became a chore. So now it's all
about the fun & if something doesn't turn out just how you
imagined it really doesn't matter.....you might even prefer it to what
you had in mind....or you could just bin it & start again!
it again! See you tomorrow!
xx

Monday 24 June 2013

June Day 24......

June Day 24: Your crafting wish list
OR
Craft something that celebrates a birthday

I think, like most crafters, my wish list would be never ending!
There's so many fab products out there, so many fab digis & stamps.....but if
I'm honest, right at the top of my wish list would be....a full set of
Pro/flexmarkers & Spectrum Noirs!
I nearly have them all.......so not too many more needed lol. Oh, and
cardstock in every colour of the rainbow would be lovely but then I do tend
to use my fav colours over & over so that would maybe
be a waste! And dies.....oh my, but how many dies does a crafter need......maybe
just a few more?? No really, I'm so lucky, I have a lovely craft room full
of lovely bits & pieces, my kids spoil me rotten and I'm on some fab DT's.
Usually, if I see something I might like, I'll think about it for a while first.
This year, for January, February & March I put myself on a
stash ban....and it was fab! I re-discovered lots of lovely things I'd
forgotten I had.....and saved myself an absolute fortune!
So now I try & be much more sensible before I buy
anything....although I do quite fancy some of that flitter stuff.....
xx

Summer Holidays with Lexi's Creations!

I know, the title seems like a bit of a joke with the
weather we're having doesn't it? Well, we can all pretend
and dream of warmer days with the new challenge over at
where we want to see your craft projects with the theme of
Summer Holidays!
Our sponsor this time is the fabulous Fairy Dust Crafts and
our lucky winner will receive 5 digis of their choice!
We got to choose an image too & I chose "Summer Bliss"...not
sure why cos I am so not a beach person lol! I've even added
a sprinkle of glitter to the sand and some glaze to her sunglasses
although it doesn't show up to well in the pics
We love to see any & all craft projects here at Lexi's and you have
until July 6th to play! As usual, there's some fabby DT makes
over on the main challenge blog.....hope to see you there!

June Day 23......

Hi guys....hope you're all well & having a lovely weekend!
I'm feeling lots better today, had a real lazy day & even
managed a couple of hours in the craft room so can do the
double today! So what's the prompt's?
June Day 23:
Tell us about something you're struggling with
OR
Craft something to give to an Auntie

There's lots I struggle with....craftwise it's probably stamping, getting
that clean, crisp outline then if/when I get that right I sometimes
struggle getting the perfect blend for skin tones! But I have great fun
practising so all's good in the end! So for the double I made a card,
I don't have an Auntie....but if I did she'd probably love to
craft too so hopefully she'd like this card! Sorry for the dreadful
pics....it's been so dark all day!

here's a closer look

Oooh, just realised what time it is....off to do a bit of blog
hopping before bed! See you tomorrow!

June Day 22......

Hiya...hope you're all ok & enjoying the weekend!
Thanks so much for all your well wishes, still feeling a bit rough but
definitely improving so fingers crossed maybe some craft time
tomorrow! So what are the prompts for today?

June Day 22: Which crafting season is your favourite and why
OR
Craft something that has silver on it

Oh, that's an easy one for me........Christmas!!
My favourite time of the year.....I love everything about it, even
the cold weather & the dark nights. There's nothing better than being
snugged up in the craft room on a cold Winter's Day! I love to make
crafty gifts, I love the planning.....what to make for who, buying
or recycling all the bits I might need. I usually start planning
for Christmas once the kids have broken up for the Summer
holidays. The 1st thing I do is to make "My little book of Christmas"
that's where all my ideas go, all my to-do things, recipes, gifts ideas,
cards....everything! And this year I've already started...
although it's a cross stitch piece so maybe I should have
started even earlier lol!
See you tomorrow!
xx

Friday 21 June 2013

June Day 21......

Hi friends......happy Friday.....hope you're all well!
Here we are, the longest day of the year & the 1st day of Summer
and guess what.....yep, it's raining....and I mean raining....it started yesterday
afternoon & it's not stopped since! I'm not complaining though, I love
the rain, especially if I don't need to go out! I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself
today, been up almost all night with a dodgy tummy (IBS) so today I'm
just lounging on the sofa feeling all weak & wobbly :( so no crafting today!
Can't believe we're heading towards the end of the month....so what are
the prompts for today?
June Day 21: Describe your perfect afternoon
OR
Craft something that has an animal theme

My perfect afternoon would be a Winter afternoon, cold &
frosty outside, toasty warm inside. It would be a weekend so all
the kids are home. The boys would be busy doing their own
thing, usually xbox! Miss Rebecca & me would have
a picnic lunch, some fab crafty time, probably making Christmas
card/gifts then we'd snuggle on the sofa & watch a Christmas film!
Of course, there would be chocolate involved, then for tea it would
be something delicious but not fancy, probably sausage & mash lol!
Oooh, and apple crumble for pudding!
Couldn't manage the double today so here's a pic of a digital
scrapbook layout I blogged last year featuring our little dog
Mad Millie Piddles!

See you tomorrow!
xx

CSAYL # 21....Last Minute Gift!

Hiya, happy Friday, nearly the weekend! We have a new challenge over at
Christmas Stampin' All Year Long today & this time
our challenge for you today is to make a gift card holder!
A great thing to have on standby as I think money would fit
in quite nicely too! I made a simple square easel card & took an extra
piece of red card, scored at each side & folded under

then simply stick to the base of the easel card & decorated in matching
paper....and it serves as a stopper too! And the gift card/money
just slots in!
We're sponsored by the fabby Bugaboo
and the lucky winner will get to choose 7 digis!
You have until next Thursday to play....look forward to
seeing your makes!
xx

Thursday 20 June 2013

June Day 20......

June Day 20: If you had to be a colour what would you be & why
OR
Craft something in monochrome

My colour would have to be either black or purple....
(though maybe blue today cos it's blooming freezing)...it
would be too hard to choose one or the other, they're both colours
that play a big part in my life....does that sound daft??
Black is always my go-to colour when clothes shopping, purple is
my fav bedroom colour, my kitchen is black, my nails are usually
black or purple (sometimes both)....I've even had purple
hair! The music I love favours dark colours.....I guess I'm just
a dark kind of person....and it's rubbed off on Miss Rebecca too,
her bedroom is gorgeous - purple walls, a black bed & black
furniture.... it's proper goth-looking and she loves it!
So no craft time for me today, too many jobs to be done, a trip to
the supermarket, the school run.....I've clocked up a fair few
weight watchers points lol! Here's a pic of Miss Rebecca's last
birthday card....black & purple!
xx

Wednesday 19 June 2013

June Day 19......

June Day 19: A snap shot of your day. Can be words, pics or both
OR
Craft something that has a lacy theme

When I woke this morning it was dull, grey & cold....that cold I even
had the heating on for half an hour! So I planned that once
all the jobs were done I was gonna hole up in the craft room &
craft away while watching the Christmas crafts on tv!
Managed to get 2 DT cards done......then postie came....bringing
me a cross stitch chart I ordered for a planned Christmas pressie for
one of my sons. He loves all things Native American and the plan is
to make the 3 panels into a wall hanging, so I spent the best part of
the afternoon sorting out aida & threads & putting my sewing frame
together.......guess what I'm gonna do tonight lol! So that was my
day.....not quite as planned.....but good anyway! Oh, and the sun
came out too, ended up being quite hot & got lots of washing
dried.....oh, what an exciting life I lead lol!
 xx

Nutcrafters midweek reminder!

Good Morning....hope you're all well & having better weather
than we have.....it's freezing here so I think once the nasty
jobs are done I'm gonna go play in the craft room!
Wednesday is Nutcrafters day and today we have a reminder
for our current challenge of "Food and/or Drink" as chosen
by our lovely teamie Helen. You can check out the
full rules here AND  there's also a freebie page.....so no excuses
lol! Come join us.....we'd love to see you!
Thanks for calling today

Tuesday 18 June 2013

June Day 18......

Didn't think I was gonna make it today....It's my eldest son, Richard's
26th birthday and oooh, I'm so full of birthday cake!

June Day 18: Crafting muck ups, tell us how you got round them
OR
Craft something that has dots

So, crafting muck ups I've had a-plenty! Usually smudged ink, spilt
coffee, sometimes even paw prints! The most recent one was
just after I coloured an image......I dropped my marker pen....and it
landed nib first! I didn't really want to waste it as for once I was quite happy
with my colouring so I simply dotted lots more dots around the whole
image.....don't think it really counts as the double for today but
here's a pic

See you tomorrow!
xx

Monday 17 June 2013

June Day 17....

June Day 17: Tell us how to do something, can be a craft technique
that's as old as the hill but your take on it
OR
Craft something that has the colour red in it

The only thing I can think of for this prompt is to share how I age paper.
I usually stamp or print my image first on whatever paper I'm using, then
dip a tea bag in some very warm water, squeeze gently so's it doesn't drip
too much then just dab it over my image....the more you dab the darker
the paper. Then when you've got the colour you want, screw the paper up,
then open up and let it dry! Here's a card I blogged a few months back,
using a printed, tea bagged script from Romeo & Juliet!

For the colour red, here's a pic of a cross stitch project I started
last Winter.....I finally finished it last night!
All the little red blobs round the top, in the pudding and the
holly berries are tiny seed beads.....I think I dropped more
than I used! Not sure what to do with this, was thinking
maybe the front of a recipe book but then I'd probably
drop  Christmas pud mixture all over it! Any suggestions?
Rightio, off for some stew & dumplings.....be round to visit
 you all later!
xx

Sunday 16 June 2013

June Day 16......

June Day 16: When you're not crafting what do you do?
OR
Craft something that celebrates marriage

Well, that's an easy one....when I'm not doing all the "Mum" jobs,
which like most of us Mums, takes up most of my day.I usually get
up about 7ish and potter about all morning, maybe nip to the shops
then have an hour in the craft room after lunch before the kids
come in!
I love to curl up on the sofa (in my craft room) with a good book!
Me at one end, Miss Rebecca at the other, a mug of coffee
and that's us happy! I'm just about to start reading Game of Thrones
as I love the tv series! I like to sew too but I suppose that's crafting
isn't it? Nothing fancy as I'm not that good, just cushions and bunting
and bits & bobs for our house and cross stitch too....I'm just about to
start a cross stitch Christmas present! I've always fancied making a rag
rug too.....can't wait for those long, cold, dark Winter nights...
I seem to get so much more done!
No double today....been pottering in the garden.....it's ever so warm
yet the sky is so grey it's almost black!
See you tomorrow
xx

Saturday 15 June 2013

June Day 15......

Well. here we are, halfway through our month long craft blog
challenge......and I'm loving it! Kairen has given us some fantastic
prompts, there's some fabby ladies taking part.....and I've
managed every day.......so far! So what do we have today?

June Day 15:  A day in your crafting life, can be words, pics or both
OR
Craft something that celebrates love

I've had a lovely, lazy day full of cats, coffee & crafting.......but oh my, look
at that mess.......can't even blame it on Miss Rebecca

And the double...yep, another wall hanging for Miss Rebecca, poor
girl, her bedroom is full of my bits & pieces, hope she likes this!
At bedtime she always says to me
"love you right round the world & back again"
so I was so chuffed when I came across this digi....it's perfect!
So that's it for today....wonder what tomorrow will bring!

Steampunk or Vintage with Sparkles!

Good morning......and what a dull, grey morning it is! And now
it's raining.... I think today is gonna be a craft day!
So first, to start the weekend, we have a new challenge over
at Sparkles and the theme is Steampunk or Vintage!
A new one for me as I've never made anything Steampunk
but it is a challenge so here goes......
I used the Papermania Chronology disc and simply printed
out a couple of sheets, inked the edges, matted them onto black
card, added some die cut cogs and that's it!
We have the fabulous Crafty Ribbons sponsoring us
and here's the fantastic prize they're offering:
As usual, you have a month to play and you can make any craft
project you like.......just so long as it fits the theme! Full rules
and the gorgeous DT makes are all over on the main blog!
Thanks for calling today....hope you have a lovely weekend!

Friday 14 June 2013

June Day 14......

June Day 14: Name your fav smell, taste, view, sound & texture
OR
Craft something that has a music theme.

No double for me today and I couldn't answer the 5 favourites with
just one thing so here goes......

Smell:  At the moment it's a Vanilla Frosting Yankee Candle! Or Miss
Rebecca's hair when it's just been washed, or nice, clean line-dried
washing or even the smell of my youngest boy fresh from the
rugby pitch!!!
Taste:  Mmmmm, got to be stew & dumplings! Or maybe roast beef
& yorkshire puds......a cool bottle of Newcastle Brown or a little drop
of jagermeister! A nice cup of Yorkshire tea!
View: Sitting in the patio doorway looking into the back garden. I sit there
early in the morning, listening to the birds, watching our rabbits
hopping around & it's so still, peaceful & quiet I feel like I'm in the middle
of nowhere.....heaven!And, of course, the lovely faces of my lot!
Sound:  Loud rock music & my kids laughing around the dinner table, they all
sound so very different & it makes me laugh just listening to them but
Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) & M Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) are both
a real close 2nd....they're usually who I listen to while I craft...
actually they could both be my fav view too lol!
Texture: A real tough one....was gonna say the underneath of my
youngest Sons toes......but that's gross lol so how about the fur of
our kitty cats....2 are smooth & short haired, the other is long
haired.....and usually brings in half the garden in his fur!

See you tomorrow when we'll be at the halfway mark!
Jo x

Thursday 13 June 2013

June Day 13......

Day 13: What do you want to learn to do? Can be crafty or non-crafty
OR
Craft something that has stripes

Oooh, that's easy......1st, I'd love to be able to stamp perfectly, 2nd, I'd
love to be able to colour in that perfectly stamped image.....perfectly!
3rd......I'd love to learn to drive.....I did go as far as getting my
provisional driving license a few years ago, as for actually
learning....I just daren't and now I think I'm too old lol!
It's been a busy day today....got some good news for a change and I
managed an hour in the craft room so I got to do the double!
The stamp I used, along with the paper, was a freebie with a mag I
bought other day....
What would you like to learn to do?
See you tomorrow
xx

Wednesday 12 June 2013

June Day 12......

June Day 12: What's your favourite medium to work with
OR
Craft something with a sporty theme.

This is definitely the toughest prompt so far......because I don't really
have a for sure, go to,  favourite. Some days it would be
colouring....Spectrum Noirs are my fav markers at the moment. Other
days it's digis....I love the convenience if them.....and they print
perfectly every time! Some  days, if I'm in the right frame of
mind, I'll sit & stamp lots. Stamping is definitely NOT my favourite..
.....I really struggle with it, but I love all the gorgeous stamps out
there so I have to keep trying lol! Dies, oh my, aren't they fab??
I do envy those clever crafters that make the most gorgeous cards
using only dies. So no double today but going with the
sporting theme, here's a pic of my rugby league mad son, Nic!
See you tomorrow!
