Altered frame!

Morning my lovely crafty, bloggy friends......hope you're all well!
Still not much crafting/blogging going on in our house......Rebecca has gone back
to school today & I'm feeling fine so fingers crossed we're back on track!
Today I'm sharing an altered frame, Rebecca loved this card so much & it had been
spoilt a bit with some fizzy pop so I decided to alter an old frame for it to hang on her
wall........first time I've ever done this so be gentle with me lol!
It started off an old mahogany coloured frame, a bit battered & unloved, the glass
was broken long ago, don't know why I hadn't thrown it out really!
So first I gave it a coat of purple paint, them a coat of black. I then sanded it back
a bit so's some of the purple would show through & to age it a bit. I made some
paper flowers with some Gorjuss scraps, added some die cut swirls, some
punched flowers & some pearls. I then added one of my favourite metal corner
embellishments , I cut a banner from more scraps & added some die cut letters.
Last I added random splodges of Tim Holtz' distress crackle paint.....love that stuff!
So that's it.....would love to know what you think! I'm off to catch up on the nasty
housework now, thanks for calling......have a lovely day!

Another wrap bracelet!

Morning my crafty friends & bloggers......hope you're all well!
First I just want to say thanks for sticking around this last week or so....things seem
to be getting a bit better (fingers crossed) at least, I'm feeling much better, not sure the
same can be said for Rebecca.....she's still really struggling with an ear infection.
We're having a huge change around at home too.....all my lot still live at home &
although we live in quite a big house, with 5 growing young men & a 12 going on 20
year old daughter we need all the space we can get! Sooooo.....I've given up my
craft room......but that's not as bad as it sounds lol....I now have the biggest
bedroom in the house (it's huge!) &  would you believe I have even more storage
space AND more work space! I love it too, it's so quiet & peaceful....I have a place
for everything.....now I just need to find the time & the energy to craft lol!
So today I have another double wrap bracelet to show you made with my favourite
chocolate brown colours & a toggle fastening.....love these style bracelets, I think they
look fab all layered up.....& I think this would be perfect for Autumn time!
Rightio, that's it from me......with a bit of luck I'll get to spend some tome in my craft
room tomorrow & get caught up on Dt makes & maybe even catch up on Blog
every day in June challenge! Thanks for calling.....have a lovely day!

First, I want to say I'm so sorry for not being around much recently.....I've been
a bit poorly......I swear I seem to get every bug going & now Rebecca has an
ear infection!!School sent her home on Monday then Tuesday morning phoned me to
ask why she hadn't been in school on Monday!!!!!
So today we have a new challenge over at Nutcrafters, our lovely Helen chose
the theme of ANYTHING BUT SQUARE.....I really struggled with this one as I
haven't crafted in about a week (eek!) & I'm not really happy with it, it looks much
nicer IRL but anyway, it's done now!
As usual, fab prizes to be won....all details on main blog!
Don't forget, if you don't have any Nutcrafters images there's a freebies page here!
Rightio, that's me for today.....off to TRY & book a Doctor's appointment!

Make a Scene with Delicious Doodles!

Morning  my lovely crafty friends......hope you're all well!
This post was scheduled to go live on Friday morning, no idea why it didn't so huge
apologies to my teamies......I've been poorly for the last few days so I've not been online!
So down to business......there's a new challenge over at Delicious Doodles and this
week the theme is MAKE A SCENE! As usual, there's 5 of Teri's fab digis for the lucky
winner but don't forget......you can enter only once unless you use a Delicious Doodles
image & then you can enter twice!
Go Shopping For Doodles!
I chose to use the digi 'In the Harbour' & I coloured it with my pencils.....I know I'm
gonna need a lot more practice but I had fun trying lol! I thought this card would
be just perfect for a male so didn't add to much, just some stamped letters to make
the sentiment.....papers from my scrap box & I used a piece of kraft card too!
Don't forget to pop over & check out the rest of the teams' gorgeous makes!
Thanks for calling today & whatever you're up to.....hope it's fun!

Day 18: Take a pic of or describe your craft space OR Craft something with a Christmas theme

This is the pic I shared last year.....not much has changed, there might be just a little bit
more stash than last year lol but it's all pretty much the same & still my favourite
room in the house!
xx

where the theme is RECIPE FOR ONE.....our Sylvia would like you to use:

I'd puzzled over this all week......then it came together so easily, I do like this style of

Day 17: Craft/blog every day in June!

Today's prompts are:
Day 17: Describe your perfect afternoon OR Craft something with an animal theme

Would that be a perfect afternoon or a perfect craft-er-noon....or maybe both lol?
I think my perfect afternoon would  probably be a cold, dark Winter's afternoon, we'd
probably be snuggled on the sofa watching a Christmas movie, there'd be
chocolate involved, the Christmas tree lights would be twinkling away & there'd be a
lovely tea cooking away in the slow cooker!

My perfect craft-er-noon would probably be a Winter's afternoon too, it'd be cold & dark
outside, toasty warm inside.......I'd be making Christmas gifts & cards etc, music on, probably
both dogs under my feet, a huge mug of coffee .......& maybe a biscuit.....or two!

No time for the double today so here's some pics of some of my pets:

Alfie's favourite spot!

Mad Milo!

Miss Milly!

Day 16: Craft/blog every day in June!

Hi guys.....day 16 & today's prompts are:
Day 16: What do you want to learn to do OR Craft something that has stripes

Sewing, well dressmaking is what I'd most like to learn.......having a daughter
that likes clothes that  little bit different I think dressmaking would be a fab thing
to learn. I know the basics & can find my way around a pattern but to learn
properly would be fab. I've promised myself that this Summer I'm gonna try & take
time to practice & maybe try find a class or two........and then Miss Rebecca might just
get that long black cape she's always wanted!

What would you like to learn?
xx

Day 15: Craft/blog every day in June!

Hi guys, well here we are at the halfway point of Kairen's craft/blog every day
in June challenge & today's prompts are:

Day 15: Tell us how you got into crafting OR Craft something that's pink

I think I've crafted forever! I remember when I was probably about 10 I made lots of
paper flowers for the owner of our sweetie shop! I remember learning to knit & doing
odd bits of hand sewing with my Nan from a very early age & I remember crotcheting
flowers & square's too though I have no idea who taught me & I still can't follow a pattern!
I remember learning the basics of sewing & dressmaking at school, something I wish
I'd followed through secondary school & college.......but something I'm really gonna
try this Summer hols! Papercrafting came much later although I suppose really I've come
full circle...........almost 40 years on & I'm still making paper flowers lol!

How did you get into crafting?
xx

At the Beach/Summer Fun with Sparkles Challenges!

Morning crafters......hope you're all well!
Sparkles new challenge starts today & this time the theme, as chosen by our lovely Brenda is
AT THE BEACH / SUMMER FUN
I decided to make a bracelet this time, while I don't much like the sun I do like the ocean &
so I thought to use the ocean & the beach as inspiration! It's a double wrap (again),
these are definitely my favourite to make right now, I took the colours of the ocean & the sand
as inspiration, added a few charms & some shells & that's it.......hope you like it!
This month we're sponsored by the fabulous Dawn til Dusk Crafts

Day 14: Craft/blog every day in June!

Hi guys, hope you're all well & having a lovely weekend so far!

I'm here with my craft/blog every day in June post & today's prompts are:

Day 14: What is your craft/s, what is it about it that floats your boat
OR
Craft something that has a flower theme

PAPERCRAFTS would be the craft I do most.....cards, tags, atc's, scrap pages....I
love that I can have a seemingly random mix of stash & somehow turn it into
(hopefully) something that I like!
CROSS STITCH is something I usually do in Winter, snuggled in front of the fire...
....I love the peace & relaxation it gives me....watching all those tiny little x's
come together always amazes me!
JEWELLERY making is something I'm new to, I like to make the wrap-type
bracelets....real quick & easy......and unique!
SEWING is something I always wish I'd learned to do properly....I can whip up a
cushion cover & a bit of bunting lol but this Summer hols Miss Rebecca & me
have plans.....we're gonna give dressmaking a go......eeek!!

I managed the double today, well a very loose double but maybe it might just
count as a flower themed make.......
......a double wrap bracelet, I used pink waxed cord, pearls, I added some
little silver daisy charms & a gorgeous button to fasten......so pretty IRL but
so hard to take a good photo of!
xx

Day 13: Craft/blog every day in June!

Hi guys......happy Friday.....am I ready for the weekend!!

Day 13: What's your favourite smell, taste, view, sound & texture
OR
Craft something that has a music theme
I thought this was gonna be so easy but no way could I narrow it down so here it is:

SMELL: A vanilla frosting Yankee candle, line dried washing & my son Nic, fresh off
the rugby pitch.....all fresh air & hot & sweaty.....if that smell had a name
it would definitely be named happy!

TASTE: Stew & dumplings, raspberries, apple crumble.....way too many to mention!

VIEW: Looking out to our back garden early on a morning, the ocean, my kids..
.....and a nice tidy craft desk lol!

SOUND: Well I do love me some loud rock music & usually have it blaring out
while I'm crafting, my faves are the Foo Fighters, A7X, Burn Halo.......and
luckily my lot love 'em too so wherever I am in the house there's something playing!

TEXTURE: Got to be my the feel of my pets.....although I have been known to stroke
a sheet or two of paper! And lastly, I shared this last year & it's still gross but ....the
underneath of one of my boys toes.....not so much now though lol!

Didn't manage the double to today so I'll share a couple of previous music themed
makes......
a digi scrap page

and a birthday card!

xx

Day 12: Craft/blog every day in June!

Hi guys.....hope you're all well.....wonder what today's prompts are?

Day 12: How/where you get your inspiration OR Craft something with an Autumn theme

Well, I've got to admit.....I LOVE Pinterest.....it's a fab source of inspiration but it
sure does eat into your time lol. I do try to limit myself to once a week, doesn't always
work but I do try.....honest! I buy the odd magazine too, I love the Docrafts Creativity as
it has a bit of everything in it. I think mainly I get inspiration from you crafty bloggers....I
love seeing someone else's take on a stamp, how they've used a die etc.....you could give
a dozen crafters the same items & they'd come up with a dozen different makes!
Sometimes if Mr Mojo's on a break I'll grab a random paper pad. find a sketch to follow
& see what I can come up with.....sometimes it works, sometimes not!!

Now I was gonna go for the double today, I decided to make a triple wrap bracelet
using chocolate brown, dark green & some russet coloured beads.......went to get the
beads out this morning & could I find the russet coloured beads? Nope, I've had my craft
room upside down, every drawer pulled out.......nowhere to be seen.....I think they
must have gotten thrown out by mistake :(

Would love to know where you get your inspiration from......and if you happen to
see a little round tub of russet coloured beads..........do send 'em home!
xx

Day 11: Craft/blog every day in June!

Can't believe we're on Day 11 already.....time sure flies when you're having fun lol!

So the prompts for today are:
If you had 3 wishes what would they be OR Craft something to celebrate a new home

Hmmmm, craft wishes or real-life wishes......maybe I'll do both!
 Craft wishes would be......
1 - My very own craft barn, full of every kind of stash you can imagine & room for
all my crafty friends to come play
2 - I'd love to be able to draw, I can doodle a bit but to draw would be fantastic
3 - To get all my ideas down on paper & the time to put them into practice

Real life wishes would be......
1- My eldest son back to health
2 - A farm to hold that craft barn I'd like.....and some sheep, donkeys....and chickens,
I've always wanted chickens!
3- To lose some weight......just one little stone is all I ask!!

What's your 3 wishes?
xx

Day 10: Craft/blog every day in June

Day 10: Craft/blog every day in June and today's prompts are:

Day 10: 3 of your best ever projects OR Craft something that's all white

I think this is probably my favourite Christmas card ever, I made it for my Daughter
last Christmas & she loved it too........so much so she asked me to keep it & give her it
next Christmas too lol!

This was a mini scrap album/memory book I made for my daughter, Rebecca's
12th birthday last month.....I loved every minute of making this!

Another birthday card, this was for one of my sons & was my 1st serious attempt
at some sort of inky background!

So that's my 3....maybe not the best ever but I loved making them & more importantly
the people they were for loved them too!

I didn't manage the double today (I snook off wallpaper shopping!) & can only remember
ever making one all white card.......so here's a pic! I made this for a GDT slot
last December!

Thanks for looking......see you tomorrow!
xx

Monday 9 June 2014

Day 9: Craft/blog every day in June!

Here we are on Day 9 and today's prompts are:

Day 9: If you could start your crafting life all over again what would you do differently
OR
Craft something that has a beach theme

If I could start over......
I'd like to think I'd tell myself to be sensible & maybe think a bit more about what
to buy. I'd spend more time trying to learn instead of rushing straight in! I'd only buy
something if I had somewhere to store it! I'd finish EVERYTHING I ever
started! I'd maybe make more things for me.......there's so much I fancy doing!
I definitely would have tried jewellery making earlier! I'd have started my blog sooner...
.....I've learned so much & been so inspired by you lovely lot!
There's loads more I should probably have done differently but you know what?
I'd probably do exactly the same again.....I've loved my crafty journey so far.....and
to think it all started with a tiny little cross stitch kit!
xx

For a friend with Lexi's Creations

Morning lovelies......hope you're all well & had a lovely weekend!
Mine was full rugby league....2 matches on tv & yesterday morning we were
cheering Nic & his team mates......and they won again......yeah!!!!

you - FOR A FRIEND - and as usual you can enter any crafty make you
fancy making! We're sponsored by Fairy Dust Crafts offering our lucky

I created my make in Serif......I wish you could see it IRL, printed out it looks
so soft & pretty & I know just the friend this is going to!

You have until June 21st to join us & if you're low on inspiration then look no
further than the fabulous Dt makes over on the main blog!

Rightio, better go do some nasty housework......thanks for calling today
& I'll see you soon!
xx

Sunday 8 June 2014

Day 8: Craft/blog every day in June!

Day 8: If you had to be a colour, which & why OR Craft something in monochrome

Oh wow Kairen, that's a tough one! I think it would have to be blue....I use it A LOT in
my crafting, love blue Christmas cards, live in my jeans & have lots of blue in my home!
Love that blue can be light & bright or mean & moody.....bit like me at times lol. For me, it's
a real calming colour, especially teamed with cream & beige. Blue
reminds me of Christmas, love the frosty feel it gives.........usually I'm real traditional at
Christmas but this year I'm gonna go for blue with creamy/beige colours......if I'm brave enough!

Managed the double today.... had a little play in Serif while watching Soccer Aid......just a
random (hence the title) page inspired by one of my boys this morning....I asked him to pass
something from my bag and heard 'heck Mum, your bag weighs a ton, what's in it?' and I got to
thinking of all the stuff he takes out with him......and he doesn't have a bag lol!!

So come on, what colour would you be & why?
xx

Saturday 7 June 2014

Day 7: Craft/blog every day in June!

Kairen's prompts for today are:

Day 7: What's your favourite medium to work with OR Craft something with a sporty theme

Didn't have to think too long about that one....it's definitely my Copics, not that I'm very good
with them yet but I'm having great fun practicing! I went for the Copic Ciao's as they're
a fair bit cheaper than the Copic Sketch with the intention of buying refills as & when I need
them. I've also been having a go with pencils....again price was a factor & so I went with
some from WHSmith on the advice of an Dt member & I'm real impressed, I'm not brilliant
with them either but again....I love practicing lol, sometimes I've even been brave enough
to use them both on the same image!!!!
Do my Anchor embroidery threads count as a medium? Cos I love them too!
And jewellery making is fast becoming a favourite too.....I'm gathering quite the stash!

No sporty theme craft today but I'll leave you with some pics with a sporty theme.
My boys, well 2 of my boys, the other one just thinks he's mine lol. This was taken after
watching our beloved Leeds Rhinos rugby team, makes me smile every time I see it!
And yes, they are as daft as they look!
So which 2 do you think are mine???
Nic - my little rugby player, taken almost a year ago.He looks so young here, he's 15 now & almost 6ft!
Nic again with Leeds Rhinos player Zac Hardaker

So that's Day 7.....what's your favourite medium?
xx

Petals & Pearls with Crafty Calendar!

Morning lovelies, happy weekend......hope you're all well!
Today we have a new challenge for you over at Crafty Calendar & the theme is

gorgeous Raine & used my favourite blues & a touch of pink.......I'm not really a
pink person but have to say I loved using it on this card. No sentiment yet cos
I'm not sure where it's going, it'll sit in my box til I need it! There's some
gorgeous inspiration over on the main blog, would love you to pop over! Rightio,

Day 6: Craft/blog every day in June!

Today Kairen has set us these prompts:

Day 6: Tell us all about your fav craft gadget & why OR Craft with a Summer theme

Another word post today as I'm a right misery guts who doesn't like Summer at all lol....
well, maybe I do like it just a little bit....real early in the morning when the world is
quiet I do like to sit outside with a mug of coffee & plan the day! Anyway, enough
waffle from me.....I'm gonna tell you all about my favourite craft gadget & why:
Well, it's gonna be a tie between Mr & Mrs Die Cutter....I love my Big Shot (Mr) & last year
one of my boys bought me a Grand Calibur (Mrs Spellbinder) yep, I love 'em that
much they even have titles!
So why do I love them? Mr Big Shot because I love my Big Sizzix dies, especially
my Tim Holtz ones & Mrs Spellbinder because I love that it can cut bigger
die & folders......I recently tried Sheena Douglas' faux leather technique using
glycerine & it worked fab! I then ran it through an A4  embossing folder & wow, I
was so chuffed with the results! I'll show you another time cos I'm gonna make it
into a notebook for one of my boys for Christmas!

What's your favourite gadget?
xx

Show us your favourite Delicious Doodles image!

Morning lovelies, happy Friday.......hope you're all well!
Today brings a new challenge over at Delicious Doodles & this time the theme set
for you is SHOW US YOUR FAV DELICIOUS DOODLES IMAGE!
Go Shopping For Doodles!

Now to be fair I have no idea how you're going to choose just one image, it was just too hard
for me......so I cheated & got Miss Rebecca to choose one! I had a feeling she's go for this

wearing grey/black clothing and have purple hair!

Don't forget to go check out the gorgeous Dt makes over on the main blog!

Day 5: Craft/blog every day in June

Day 5: What do you wish you were good at OR Craft something with a Spring theme

Another word post today.....craft time has been almost non existent this week, I'm sure
looking forward to the weekend! So here we are on Day 5 of Kairen's June blog challenge
& I need to tell you something I wish I was good at...........could be a long list lol!
Craftwise it would be colouring, love my Copics but sometimes struggle with
blending.......and I'd love to be able to create mini works of art with all those lovely
inks! Non-craft wise I wish I were more efficient with my time........I can easily while
away an hour (or three) on Pinterest or Ebay....oh, I could go on & on......and on
a bit more but really I'm quite happy with my lot, I have a lovely craft space, I do have
free time to use my craft space & if I'm not too good at something then I can have
great fun practicing.......as my inky, messy desk would tell you!

What about you?
xx

Wednesday 4 June 2014

Day 4:Craft/blog every day in June!

Day 4: Which crafting season is your fav & why OR Craft something with silver in it

First, i thought it's got to be Winter but then thinking about it....it could just
as easily be Autumn! I love when the kids go back to school/college & I start to really
get stuck into Christmas preps! I love when the weather turns, that nip in the air...
......crunchy leaves underfoot, those gorgeous golden colours. I love when it starts
to get darker earlier & I tend to do more x stitching too...sat in front of the fire
with a huge mug of hot chocolate stitching away! I love all the frosty blues, love blue
anyway but tend to use it a lot for Christmas makes....I love trying to make just the right
Christmas card for the right person.....and gifts too, this year already I have lots of ideas
for gifts.....one or two I've actually started!!! Rebecca & me can easily while away
an Autumn/Winter weekend in the craft room....snuggly pj's, munchies & loud music blaring
away......and a Yankee Candle burning! To be honest, we often do all that at any time
of the year but come Autumn/Winter it just feels different....no idea why, it just does!
I love all the gorgeous Christmas embellies....frosty, sparkly snowflakes........glitter.....
twinkling lights....eggnog.....Christmas movies......oh, and Christmas Cake!!!

What's your favourite craft season?
xx

Hi guys......we're on day 2 of Kairen's blog every day in June & the prompts are:

Day 2: Tell us who's your favourite crafter OR Craft something for a male

Hmmmmm, favourite crafter....it's too tough to name just one.....if we're talking celebrity
crafters I'd probably go for Sheena Douglas & Barbara Gray.......I've just recently
tried Sheena's faux leather technique using glycerine.......and it worked & it looks fab too!
As for Barbara, I can't master her style of crafting, mine just ends up an inky mess but I
could sit & watch her all day long!
As for blog buddies, I've loads of favourites....one blog I try & visit most days is
Rachel's, a lovely lady, full of life, always on the go & you can just tell she crafts from
the heart! Then there's Sandra, Sue, Maureen, Gemma, Debs, Catherine......oh, way too many
 to mention!
Each & every one are so inspiring, encouraging and a favourite in one way or another!

So do tell.......who's your favourite crafter?

GDT at Paper Makeup Stamps!

Morning my lovely crafty friends.............hope you're all well!
Last month I was so chuffed to be invited to be a Guest Designer over at
Paper Makeup Stamps..............this week the theme is ANYTHING GOES!
I got to choose an image for my make, I (eventually) chose Jenny Fairy as I
thought she'd be just perfect for a little wall hanging I wanted to make.
I'm trying hard to lose some weight & become fitter & so made this to hang on
the corner of the mirror in our gym........in the vain hope that someday soon I'll look
as trim as this lil' sweetie......... so keep your fingers crossed for me lol!
I loved creating this....apart from the flowers all the bits & pieces I used were
from my scrap box........yay!!! Do pop on over & see the gorgeous makes
for your inspiration & while you're there maybe enter the challenge.....
anything goes.......couldn't be easier! A big THANK YOU to the team for
inviting me and thanks for popping by today.....hope you have a lovely crafty day!

Craft and/or blog every day in June - Day 1

craft/blog every day in June!

Hi crafty bloggers......some of you might remember last year Kairen from Karoove
challenged us to craft and/or blog everyday for the whole of June.....and this
year she's done it again......yeah!!!! We're given daily prompts to blog & we link up
over at Karoove.....so here we go with day 1!

Day 1: What does crafting mean to you OR Craft something with an age theme

Crafting means everything & anything to me in that I love lots of crafts, mostly paper
crafts & I've just started making some bits of jewellery, mainly wrap-type bracelets.
Crafting just makes me happy & I love to share too so really it's the perfect hobby
as anything I make I can give away lol! I craft with my daughter too & as I have 5 sons
all still living at home it's lovely to have something that just Rebecca & I can share!
Crafting means ribbon, paper, glitter, Copics, inky fingers & dried glue stuck to
my PJ's........ooooh, and dies.....how I love my dies......and stamps too!
Crafting means smiley faces & happy places........I visit lots of lovely blogs & I've
never yet seen a miserable crafter lol.
Crafting means 'me' time, especially early in the morning when all the kids are
still in bed............that's probably my favourite time to craft!

So what does crafting mean to you......would love to know your thoughts!
If you fancy joining in then head over to Karoove......all info you need is there!
See you tomorrow for day 2!!
xx
