Morning lovelies, hope you're all well!
Did you have a lovely weekend? We had gorgeous sunshine, well gorgeous if you like it but you know what a misery guts I am when it comes to the weather.........I much prefer Autumn & Winter! It was lovely though, to be able to dry the washing outside.....it always smells so much nicer, don't you think......and nothing beats snuggling up in line-dried fresh bedding......it's the simple things lol!
I had a lovely crafty play this weekend........I altered an old jar for my new-ish craft room! I recently moved from my beautiful teal & cream craft room as I was struggling to get upstairs & I now craft in my equally lovely purple dining room.......but nothing matches so I have a good excuse to play!
I took inspiration from one of the makes in Craft Stamper magazine, although I was a bit heavy handed with the crackle paint lol.......it did crackle, just not as well as I would have liked! I started by covering the jar with white Gesso, then added the crackle then dabbed with distress paint. I dyed the seam binding with the same paint & added a few embellishments......and I love it! It perfectly matches my room......and keeps my pens & pencils tidy!
And if I fancy a change it looks fab with a battery operated tealight in!

Below is a sneak peak of my very 1st mixed media girl.....I sketched her a while ago but finally got around to adding her a to a canvas.........hopefully I'll be brave enough to show her to you!
Rightio, better go......I have more washing to peg out lol! Thanks for calling, have a lovely day &
I'll see you soon.
xx

Wonderful jar Jo love the colours and embellishments
ReplyDeleteWOW Jo, this recycled jar is soooo pretty!! Love it! Fabulous colours and the seam binding it's an amazing detail! Love also very much the butterfly!Crackle paint is strange.... I have seen that I put a lot of it in a thick layer if I want that it crackle well. (and so it becomes more expensive...). But the glass of your jar has come out wonderfully! Great place for your pens!
ReplyDeleteIt's also a fab idea putting inside a tealight!
Hugs and love!

Hi Jo,
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful piece of mixed media.
The colours are so very vibrant and wonderful.
I haven't entered your candy draw as I already own that set of dies, but haven't used them yet.
So I thought I would leave it to those who haven't got them.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Jo your jar is beautiful. Funnily enough I am experimenting with crackle mediums right now too, lol! Love the butterfly stamp/die you used, it's just a gorgeous upcycled project and one that many of us would love to have.
ReplyDeleteI get what you mean about the weather - this heat is horrid for me because it makes me ache more than usual and totally drains me of energy. It's sad because I used to love this sort of weather but now I much prefer autumn and if it's not too wet/hot spring - winter can be too cold for me bones, crikey I sound like an old lady, grrr! Will be entering your candy next, thank you for letting me know about it, so nice of you Karen x
I forgot to say share your face too - I know the fear myself of sharing what we draw you will only find friends who will encourage you, promise xx
DeleteHi Jo! I love your pretty jar and that you took something old and made it new again and beautiful too. Thanks so much for joining my challenge this week, and I hope to see you back again :)
