Challenge #8 - For The Kids

Good morning crafty friends, hope you're all well.
I can't believe we're about to start the 8th challenge.....doesn't time
fly when you're having fun.....and I sure am having fun! I thank you all
so much for taking the time to join in with my challenges.
I love this time of the year......the cooler weather, the darkening nights
......oh, and the kids going back to school & college!
So, this time the theme is going to be......

FOR THE KIDS

A pair of decoupaged toppers from me, both the same size, the same layout
and both from the same collection........Whiz Kids from Trimcraft. A fab
mix of papers, decoupage toppers, sentiment banners, gems, ribbons..
.....and a few more, I'm sure! I started with my favourite base of black,
added some distressed paper layers, a decoupaged topper then finished
with a sentiment & some faux gems.

This month I'm so chuffed to have my lovely blog buddy, Michelle from
joining me as Guest Designer..........
Hi - I live in Buxton, Derbyshire with my fella, son Brandon and naughty but cute cat Sybil.  I started my papercrafting journey with scrapbooking after my son was born in 2006.  Not long after I started making cards and was hooked.  I love colouring digi stamps and turning them into cards but I also enjoy cross stitch and adult colouring.  There's just not enough hours in the day for all that I enjoy doing!

and here's what Michelle made......
isn't that just adorable? Michelle makes the prettiest card.....why not
pop over to her blog.....you won't be disappointed.
Thanks so much for joining me Michelle.......hope you can join me too!

Rules
1 - You must follow the theme set
2 - One entry, new makes only
3 - You must be a follower of this blog
4 - Please link your entry post back to this blog

So whether your style is frilly & fancy, CAS,or even grungy & gritty you
can enter your make.....and as usual, there'll be a surprise prize for the
lucky winner. And if you fancy joining me as a guest designer then just add
GD after your name!

Good luck!
xx

Let It Snow!

Ooh, I do love me some snow at Christmas........and once upon a time my go-to
Christmas colours were blue & white. I think I've gotten more traditional with age lol!
Saying that, this style of topper would work in any combination you could think of.
What are your go-to Christmas colours? Do you have a favourite or do  you like
to mix & match?
So this must be the quickest topper ever.....5 die cuts in 2 colours & 4 glitter
dome stickers & about 10 minutes.......job done.....and super flat for
posting too!
Dies from The Paper Boutique, stickers from Papermania

Thanks for calling, hopefully see you tomorrow.

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen......

......Comet, Cupid, Donner & Blitzen!
There's some days when it really gets me down that I can't colour images/stamps
like I used to...........then there's days like today when I realise it really doesn't matter.
For so long colouring was the main focus of my crafting & it took a long while for
me to admit I couldn't physically do it very often.....but now, who cares? I just love
to craft & most of my makes are die/paper based..... to be able to take just a die & some
card & create something beautiful is really quite special. Obviously, not always just
one die.......why use just one when you can use 3,4,5 or more lol. I suppose what
I'm really trying to say is.......it doesn't matter what you use, how much or how little
stash you have.....we craft for ourselves & as long as we are happy then that's
all that matters. Crafting really does soothe the soul!

So. for today I used just some cardstock, 1 die, 2 gems & 1 mini bow!
Real pleased with how it turned out......and I think it would be a great one for
batch making too!
Rightio, better get a move on if we want feeding today....thanks for calling & for
any comments you might leave.....see you tomorrow.

Happy Christmas!

Hi crafty friends, hope you're all well & enjoying the weekend.
A super quick & easy card topper to share today using only the simplest
of ingredients.....card, paper & dies....with a stamped sentiment & a
faux gem to finish. Love this style & I think they'd be perfect for batch
making. I seem to be stuck in Christmas craft mode at the moment &
as much as I love Christmas I think I need a break!
Rightio, better get back to it.....thanks for calling, see you soon!

Dreaming of Winter

I do dream of Winter.....those long, cold & dark nights......the even
colder frosty morning.....and me snuggled up nice & cosy inside......perfect!
I wish you could see this card IRL.....the soft colours are just beautiful
and the hint of silver is just enough. I layered it all
onto a base of cream card & patterned, distressed paper. with some elements
raised on foam pads for a little extra dimension.
Another make to add to the Christmas pile......how are you getting on with
all your Christmas makes?
Thanks for calling........hopefully see you tomorrow.

Autumn Colours with Crafty Cardmakers!

It's new challenge time over at Crafty Cardmakers and this time the theme
as chosen by our lovely Marg is........

AUTUMN COLOURS

My favourite time of the year is Autumn/Winter.....I especially love the Autumn
colours, the darker nights, snuggling on the sofa, hot chocolate.....ooh, I could go on!
For my make I started with a kraft card base, added a chocolate brown layer
then some distressed paper layers. I raised the topper on foam pads, added the die
cut leaves, some string for extra texture & finished with some Tim Holtz chit chat
stickers & some faux gems. The patterned papers, the image were freebies with the
Making Cards magazine & die used for the leaves came free with the Papercraft
Essentials!
If you fancy joining us this time we welcome any & all makes.....just so long as
you stick to the theme & if you're low on inspiration we can help you with that too!

Thanks for calling & for any comments you might leave.
See you tomorrow.

Why Make 1 Card When You Can Make 3!

Hi crafty friends, hope you're all well.
It's been a while since I posted, health getting in the way of crafting again.......how
very dare it lol! Fingers crossed an increase in insulin will get me sorted out!

So while I've not been doing much crafting I've had lots of time to revisit some
of my favourite magazines.....one of my favourites is the Making Cards mag.
There's always some lovely paper & toppers free with the mag plus you can
download more! I thought it was about time I used some but with a little twist.
I thought to use the same papers & images to make 3 card toppers in
 3 different ways.....

for the 1st make I went with super clean, simple & flat - no embellishments
at all on this one

for the 2nd I used lots of distressed paper layers, no sentiment & just one
 simple embellishment
for the 3rd I went all out....lots of layers & embellishments and a tag tucked behind
for you to write on and finished with lots of faux gems

So there we are......which one do you prefer?

Thanks for popping in.....see you tomorrow
